Assignment Overview:
Students will conceptualize, pitch, plan and produce:
1. Documentary x1 - 5min, English
2. Trailer x1 - 30sec, English
The objective of this Assignment is for students to develop critical thinking and apply their production skills, including planning skills, to present and document information about an aspect of reality in a video. Students are tasked to develop an idea, pitch it, then conceptualize, plan and produce their documentary. They are strongly encouraged to do rigorous research on documentary type programmes. They are strongly advised to start as soon as possible on their research and production planning.
DOCUMENTARY VIDEO =
documents/captures some aspect of reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction or maintaining a historical record.
TRAILER =
a short video clip that advertises the Video / Film
TOPIC: EXPLORE SINGAPORE! A 5min English DOCUMENTARY WITH SINGAPORE FLAVOUR & UNIVERSAL THEME TIPS: - ALL VIDEOS HAVE A PURPOSE > TO PRESENT INFO TO TARGET AUDIENCE (TA) - Make the info interesting to TA - Visually exciting / colourful - Good Audio to enhance and support visuals - At least 1 REAL interview – to sound credible / professional - Define your target audience - Think of whether your target audience will be keen to watch - Content – what do people want to know? - Story – what’s the best way to present your story angle & information? - Balanced info – present info in different perspectives |
